29 Ways to Get Leads to Your Website

Websites are awesome for giving you a virtual presence, for allowing you to communicate with prospective and existing customers and let them "get to know you". They can be a place to field questions to save you time from repeating the same things to each person you meet. They can also be a place of resource for your customer, helping them find additional information on their topic. You can connect with your customer, perhaps through videos, articles or message boards, and keep them coming back for more.
Driving traffic to your website is a critical component of getting customers... and you can drive traffic in many ways. You don't need to think you need to stick to the online world. Depending on your target market, it might actually be much more effective to drive traffic from offline methods. Why would you limit yourself?
With all of the junk email and ads everywhere on the Internet, you're competing in a saturated area. If you start marketing your website offline, you're going in a direction that is less common. Standing out to grab attention is a lot easier when there are less competitors. Plus, your target market may be much more receptive to offline, more traditional means. Just because the Internet is popular doesn't mean its most effective.
Here are 29 Ways to Drive Leads:
Business cards
Postcard mailers
Brochures/Flyers
Talking to friends and family
Knocking on doors, talking to strangers
Personal, written letters
Referrals
Live event networking
Emails
YouTube videos
Press Releases
Social Media
Webinars
Newspaper ads
Magazine or periodical ads
Radio annoucements
TV ads
Billboard signs
Posters
Affiliate email lists and referrals
Clickbank (if you have an info product)
eBay (if you have a product)
Amazon.com (if you have a product)
Links and promotions from other websites
Having friends talk about you
Sponsoring events
Classified ads
Speaking onstage at events
Cold calling
Can you think of more? Some of the methods here may not apply, depending on your target customer. But there may be things in this list that you haven't tried yet. Trying new ways of getting your customers' attention--and tracking everything you do--can provide valuable insight. Why not pull out all the stops and try as many routes as possible? With every action you take and method you try, you learn more about your customers and what actually works. It becomes less of a guessing game.
